There’s something magical about walking into a gem show — tables covered in stones you’ve never seen before, collectors swapping stories, the thrill of finding a piece that just feels right in your hand. Whether you’re searching for cabbing rough, a new specimen, or inspiration for your next creation, Utah’s gem shows won’t disappoint.
✨ Big Shows You Can’t Miss:
-
Delta Rockhound Rendezvous (Delta, UT) — One of Utah’s best-known annual events, where local miners and vendors gather. Bring cash, water, and your best haggling skills.
-
Gem Faire (Salt Lake City) — Held several times a year, Gem Faire attracts vendors from all over the country. Great for finding finished stones, beads, and tools. They have a wide and diverse range of products.
-
Wasatch Gem Society Show (South Jordan) — Family-friendly and well-organized, with everything from fossils to rare mineral specimens. This is my absolute favorite show, it feels very local and has a lot of rough and slabs, which I love!
✨ Local Gems & Club Shows:
-
Timpanogos Gem & Mineral Society Show (Provo) — Smaller and more community-driven, these shows often have amazing deals on rough rock and local material.
-
County Fair Rockhound Booths — Watch for local clubs at county fairs and community events. They’re friendly, affordable, and a great place to make connections.
💡 Pro Tip: Always bring a small flashlight to check stones for cracks, and a notebook for the vendors you want to revisit. And don’t be shy — gem folks love to share what they know, I've met so many interesting people this way!
